The Seattle Seahawks have signed Greg Olsen to a one-year deal. It’s not going to be the same to not see Olsen in a Panthers uniform, but I am happy that he’s going to a team that has a chance to win a championship. I think that’s a great move on Seattle’s part, I actually think this was incredibly smart. The reason why is that they have their main guy in Dissly who was putting together a great year in the catching game but injuries have hindered him throughout his career. By adding Olsen, you provide yourself with another run blocker on the offensive line to help Carson/Penny or just to pass block which is huge for a team that really began to find an identity on the ground this year for the first time since beast mode was in Seattle. Olsen, although his numbers weren’t what they used to be, can still catch the ball and stretch the field. They can open up their playbook all the more in these two tight-end sets or allow a tight-end to lineup in the slot and possibly force a mismatch with a less athletic linebacker.

Overall this gives Russell Wilson a reliable pass catching option and depth at a position that got depleted last year because of injuries as well as allow the offense of the Seahawks to do more with their offense. In a tough NFC west division, the Seahawks are showing us early that they are ready for the challenge and preparing for another playoff run now.
