*Spoiler the first seven picks have stayed the same*
1. Cincinnati Bengals (2-14): Joe Burrow, QB, LSU
The Bengals have made no moves towards any of the current free agent quarterbacks still on the market, and no reports have even hinted that they have moved away from Burrow. Therefore Joe Burrow is still going number one and Zac Taylor is getting his quarterback of the future.
2. Washington Redskins (3-13): Chase Young, DE, Ohio State
Outside of franchise tagging Brandon Scherff, and releasing Jordan Reed, the Redskins have done little else thus far in free agency. Reports are not moving away from Young still going number two and I don’t think that is changing either. You just can’t pass up on the talent that is Chase Young.
3. Detroit Lions (4-12-1): Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio State
I wouldn’t be surprised if Isaiah Simmons is nabbed here instead because of what Matt Patricia believes he can do with that 4.39 speed and athletecism. However, Okudah is a clear CB 1 and an instant starter, his field work in the combine before his injury was unreal. Now that Slay is in Philly, its only Desmond Trufant (recent signing) on the back end. Lions need help in the secondary and they can get themselves a beast.
4. New York Giants (4-12): Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson
Yes, they are going to go Simmons, similar to Young, I just don’t think you can pass up on the talent. The additions of Blake Martinez and James Bradberry were absolutely brilliant for them, and I think you can have the best linebacking core in the NFL with Simmons and Martinez. Martinez will call out the plays, stuff the run and Simmons can drop back into coverage covering sideline to sideline, being a ball hawking linebacker.
5. Miami Dolphins (5-11): Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
Miami is still in need of a quarterback, and Tua is still their guy I believe. They made great moves on the defensive side of the ball so far in free agency, so I imagine they are going to get Tua’s offensive weapons in this draft as well, who knows maybe one of his friends from Bama???
6. Los Angeles Chargers (5-11): Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
Phillip Rivers is gone, and they miss the Tom Brady sweepstakes. Signing Linval Joseph and Chris Harris Jr. was a brilliant move to solidify an already pretty deep defense. They need to get their quarterback of the future now and Herbert has proven all the doubters wrong about his lack of ability to throw the deep ball. Look at his standing throw that went sixty-two yards, imagine that being thrown to Keenan Allen deep down field.
7. Carolina Panthers (5-11): Jedrick Wills Jr, OT, Alabama
Teddy Bridgewater is the new quarterback in Carolina, and he is going to need some help, and so is McCaffrey to find some running room. Wills is going to do just that in Carolina and help guide Bridgewater in his first season back as a starter. Carolina is still missing some pieces, but I think a good offensive line with Bridgewater/McCaffrey is going to be a fun offense to watch week in and week out.
8. Arizona Cardinals (5-10-1): Meckhi Becton, OT, Louisville
My first change in the draft. I wanted them to first go with CeeDee Lamb because of the connection that Kyler Murray has with him but let’s be honest Hopkins can make magic with anyone, so they are fine. It’s time to help grow Kyler in year two, getting that offensive pillar to protect his blind side will make those deep throws to Hopkins all the more entertaining next year.
9. Jacksonville Jaguars (6-10): Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
I still think Jacksonville gets a defensive lineman here and Brown is there guy. He is a big man, with a lot of strength, that can toss opposing offensive linemen off there feet. In a division with Henry, and the Colts powerhouse offensive line, the Jaguars need a big man up front to help disrupt the guard and center position.
10. Cleveland Browns (6-10): Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
Browns need an offensive line help, and Thomas is a great tackle. He’s not only going to help Chubb, like he used to in Georgia already, but hes going to help Baker start throwing dimes to Laundry and Beckham Jr this year. Last offseason there was a lot of hype surrounding the Browns (myself included) with the right offensive line this offense can really get going and be exciting to watch and hopefully get Baker and the rest of the offense back on track.
11. New York Jets (7-9): CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
Yes, they could easily go and get an offensive line, but right now Robby Anderson is not resigned, and they don’t have many wide receivers on the roster that can really help Darnold. The Jets are going to go out and get the best receiver in the draft, and a true number one for Sam Darnold to throw too. A core offensive nucleus in Darnold, Bell and Lamb has potential to not only be a fun offense to watch play, but one that could be tough to defend against.
12. Oakland Raiders (7-9): Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
They need a wide receiver; Tyrel Williams needs some help. They made a lot of moves on the defensive side of the ball so far in free agency, and with such a depth at receivers in this year’s draft, you don’t pass that up.
13. San Francisco 49ers (Traded via Indianapolis Colts (7-9): Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama
Emanuel Sanders is a free agent and reports are Dallas is really interested in him. There is no true wide receiver in the Bay Area anymore. His 4.27 speed makes him lethal, and Shannahans ability to draw up mismatches will allow Ruggs to run all over the field and take advantage of secondaries. He will also be a huge addition in what is already a very high powered offense.
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-9): Tristin Wirfs, OT, Iowa
Tom Brady is in Tampa Bay, that means you need to protect him. The Buccaneers had the best wide receiving duo in the entire NFL last year in Godwin and Evans, but a really bad offensive line. They want Brady to be comfortable to unleash a firestorm of hell onto secondaries, they need to protect him and get help. Wirfs is an athletic freak, as proven in his combine stats, it will be a lot of fun to watch him block for the GOAT.
15. Denver Broncos (7-9): Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina
Denver traded for Jurrell Casey, having another big body defensive lineman to help Nick Chubb and Von Miller with Vic Fangio at the helm makes this defense terrifying. Kinlaw has potential to be an elite level interior defensive lineman and elevate them to another level. Fangio tore apart opposing offenses with a great front seven in Chicago just two years ago, I expect him to do the same here in Denver.
16. Atlanta Falcons (7-9): CJ Henderson, CB, Florida
The Falcons let go of Desmond Trufant and need an impact corner on the backend of their defense. Henderson is a great corner able to not only follow the number one wideout, but also has a great ability to track the ball and if not get the pick then make a pass defense. He had a great combine and running a 4.39 really helped out his case of being one of the best corners in this draft.
17. Dallas Cowboys (7-9): K’Lavon Chaisson, Edge, LSU
Robert Quinn left in free agency after a monster 11.5 sack season in 2019 that really helped guide the Cowboys to a decent year overall. They need to acquire another pass rusher and help out that defensive front get at the quarterback. With Vander-Esch coming back this defense should be much more improved in 2020.
18. Miami Dolphins (Via Pittsburg (8-8)): Josh Jones, OL, Houston
The Dolphins made a bunch of moves on the defensive side of the ball, and after getting Tua and trading Tunsil last offseason, they need to get an offensive lineman to help protect Tua for years to come. Jones is a really big lineman with a lot of upside. If the Dolphins get a free agent running back like Gordon, or draft someone like Swift, Jones will be a huge addition in the run with his size.
19. Oakland Raiders (Via Chicago (8-8)): Kristian Fulton CB, LSU
I originally had them getting his teammate Patrick Queen, but the Raiders got a slew of linebackers in free agency. They did however let a lot of their secondary go and upgrade is necessary for this defense to take it to the next level. Fulton reads the eyes of the quarterback well and is quick to make a move after the ball. He doesn’t have blazing speed, but he does have a big ceiling with his athleticism. He should pair nicely with Abrhams.
20. Jacksonville Jaguars (Via Los Angeles Rams (9-7)): Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama
No more Ramsey or Bouye, the once great Jaguar secondary is no more. Similar to a handful of other teams already they need help on the backend. Diggs is a very physical cornerback and isn’t afraid to meet a receiver right at the line of scrimmage. He has great height and length, with his background as a receiver he has excellent hands, watch out for a lot of interceptions next to his name.
21. Philadelphia Eagles (9-7): Laviska Shenault Jr, WR, Colorado
No change here the Eagles need help in this position and the draft is going to be where they get it. Shenault has great speed, great hands, and can break a lot tackles after the catch. I wish we could have seen him at the combine, a core injury sidelined him, but he should be back in time for training camp and OTA’s. Shenault fits nicely into what the Eagles want to do with their offense and will be a nice target up the middle for Wentz to throw too.
22. Minnesota Vikings (Via Buffalo (10-6)): Tee Higgins, WR, Clemson
The Vikings traded away Diggs and immediately find themselves in the market for a new wideout. Higgins gives the Vikings a big wide receiver, with good speed considering his 6’3 frame, and should be the new deep threat for Minnesota. His frame allows him to be a good run blocker against cornerbacks which will help Dalvin Cook on outside runs and he should provide a nice target for Cousins in the RedZone.
23. New England Patriots (12-4): Jordan Love, QB, Utah State
Tom Brady is gone, and they could easily go with a linebacker because Van Noy and Collins both left in free agency. However, with Brady gone you have to imagine that they do get their quarterback of the future. There are still plenty of veteran quarterbacks on the market and they could target one of them, I believe they look at this draft and get the raw talent that Jordan Love brings to the table. Belichick and McDaniel’s are masterminds when it comes to building up a system to find a way to win. With Loves athletic ability and good arm strength, McDaniel’s could really help him grow in the NFL.
24. New Orleans Saints (13-3): Grant Delpit, S, LSU
Vonn Bell, PJ Williams have yet to be resigned and the Saints let Eli Apple sign a contract with the Raiders, they are dangerously thin in the secondary. Delpit offers a big hitting safety that isn’t afraid to load up in the box. Jenkins signed a three year deal and is back in New Orleans, he should be a good mentor to Delpit and help grow into a hard hitting safety. This will not be a fun safety duo to get hit by in 2020.
25. Minnesota Vikings (10-6): AJ Terrell, CB, Clemson
Rhodes, Waynes, Alexander, and Kearse are all out of Minnesota, leaving essentially only Mike Hughs as the only cornerback on the roster. This is more of a necessity for the Vikings and with all of the other cornerbacks drafted to this point they get the best available one. Terrell had an excellent combine day and is a classic bump and run cornerback which is exactly what Zimmer likes in his secondary. His solid open field tackling and ability to blitz from the second level thanks to his 4.42 speed will make him an interesting piece in an already solid Minnesota defense.
26. Miami Dolphins (Via Houston Texans (10-6)): DeAndre Swift, RB, Georgia
Miami needs a do it all running back to help Tua grow, Swift is there guy. There is a possibility that they go out and get Melvin Gordon still, but I think that they save their cap and get a great young running back onto the roster instead of pay Gordon a sizable contract. Swift will allow them to do a lot on offense with his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and run between the tackles.
27. Seattle Seahawks (11-5): Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama
It wouldn’t shock me if they went an offensive lineman, but I think that after last year’s trade for Diggs in the middle of the season, the most glaring weakness on the defense is their secondary. McKinney forces turnovers and is great at covering the back end as a pure pass coverage corner which is something that the Seahawks need. While I don’t think he greatest strength is lining up in the box, when brought in on blitz packages at Alabama he was able to sneak by offensive lines and make an impact behind the line of scrimmage. Im excited to see what Carroll does with him.
28. Baltimore Ravens (14-2): Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma
Judon is tagged and Campbell was brought in during free agency solidifying their pass rushers on the edge. CJ Mosley left last offseason and the linebacking position of the Ravens was one of very few weaknesses this team had overall. Murray is an impact player day 1 on any team. You turn on his tape from Oklahoma he is making every single play for that defense and is constantly flying all over the field. He needs to work on his pass coverage as linebacker and he will be asked to cover some elite tight ends, but with his high motor and drive to learn and get better, he will fit in nicely into any defense.
29. Tennessee Titans (9-7): Neville Gallimore, DT, Oklahoma
Jurrell Casey was traded to the Broncos, and last year’s defensive tackle pick up Jeffry Simmons already looks like s solid defensive tackle in his nine games. This is a position need for the Titans and Gallimore will fill that slot in nicely adding a pass rushing defensive tackle. Hes quick and has no problem wrapping up elusive quarterbacks, watch out Watson!
30. Green Bay Packers (13-3): Zach Baun, LB, Wisconsin
Blake Martinez left in free agency, one of the NFL’s most productive and underrated linebackers in the league. He was huge in the Packers ability to stop the run and was the leader of that defense. Baun will have big shoes to fill, but has a similar skill set to Martinez and can fit in nicely along the Smith edge rushers. Also bonus, he went to Wisconsin and the people there already love him.
31. San Francisco 49ers (13-3): Aj Epenesa, Edge, Iowa
DeForest Buckner was traded to the Colts in exchange for the 13th pick and although that defense of the 49ers is still all together, they are going to replenish that front seven with another young really talented rusher. Buckner lined up inside and I don’t believe Epenesa can lineup in the defensive tackle position as frequently as Buckner did due to his size however I believe that with Salah and the right packages he can be a monster on the inside when needed. Epenesa is a great edge rusher who uses his hands against opposing linemen and get around them Salah is going to maximize his ceiling in the NFL.
32. Kansas City Chiefs (13-3): Johnathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin
Him and Damien Williams would be a deadly 1-2 punch in the backfield, Williams is a great runner and receiver and can still be the main back. But adding Taylor to the mix completely changes how a defense needs to cover the Chiefs offense and respect Taylors 4.39 home run hitting speed as well as everything it is Mahomes does. He’s shown an ability to catch the ball out of the backfield during his pro-day, something he won’t have to do much of with Williams there too. Taylor could carry the rock 30 times even if they needed him to as is evident in his college career. He makes this offense far more elite then it was last year or during Mahomes MVP season.
