As the 2020 NFL Draft approaches, Just Saying Football has decided to create a string of Re-Do Drafts of the past decade! This Re-Do will be based on the impact the player has had to this point in their career, as well as the need of the teams at the time. There are no newly created trades, as all selections are as they stood when the First Round concluded. Within this redraft we will be looking at how the teams would have redrafted the first round given what we know today.

1. St. Louis Rams: Antonio Brown, WR (Picked No. 195 Overall)

Original Pick: Sam Bradford, QB

Antonio Brown despite his past year of antics, is the No.1 overall pick in this draft. Seven Pro Bowls in eight years. 4x First Team All-Pro. 2010’s All-Decades team. AB had 80 touchdowns in 9 years after being a sixth round selection.

2. Detroit Lions: Gerald Mccoy, DT (Picked No. 3 Overall)

Original Pick:  Ndamukong Suh, DT

Gerald Mccoy may not seem as dominant as Suh. However Mccoy has been a force and provides less penalties and attitude problems. The six time Pro Bowler one pick higher than originally selected.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Earl Thomas, FS (Picked No. 14 Overall)

Original Pick: Gerald McCoy, DT

Earl Thomas has established himself as one of the best safeties of the past decade. Tampa Bay would pair him with Ronde Barber. The 2010 all decade selection goes here at #3.

4. Washington Redskins: Trent Williams, T (Same Selection)

Original Pick: Trent Williams, T

Despite the issues this past season regarding Williams and the organization. The Redskins get their tackle for a decade with this pick and one of the best picks they have made in a long time.

5. Kansas City Chiefs: Ndamukong Suh, DT (Picked No. 2 Overall)

Original Pick: Eric Berry, SS

The Chiefs bring in Suh here and add to their pass rush. With Tamba Hali on the edge at this point in time. Kansas City uses this pick to make their defensive front one of the leagues most talented. 58.5 Sacks

6. Seattle Seahawks: Rob Gronkowski, TE (Picked No. 42 Overall)

Original Pick:  Russell Okung, T

Give Matt Hassleback and eventually Russell Wilson the best tight end of the 2010 decade. Ground has the size and the speed to make a difference on any offense. Once a second round pick he is selected here at number 6.

7. Cleveland Browns: Joe Haden, CB (Same selection)

Original Pick: Joe Haden, CB

Haden when in Cleveland was one of the best corners in the league during his time there. They would make this selection again give the high level of play he gave them then and is still giving for the division rival Steelers.

8. Oakland Raiders: Kam Chancellor, SS (Picked No. 133 Overall)

Original Pick: Rolando McClain, MLB

Rolando McClain was not the talent that everyone thought he was. Kam Chancellor rises from a fifth round pick into the top 8. Adding what it means to be a Raider to this secondary. One of the hardest hitting safeties ever.

9. Buffalo Bills: Navarro Bowman, MLB  (Picked No. 91 Overall)

Original Pick: C.J. Spiller, RB

Navarro Bowman would be a great tool on this Buffalo defense. He was dominant in his career and one of the most consistent tacklers. While he only played 7 seasons he came back from an almost career ending injury. With 4 first team all pros and 798 tackles in 7 years of play.

Original Pick: C.J. Spiller, RB

10. Jacksonville Jaguars: Geno Atkins, DT (Picked No. 120 Overall)

Original Pick:  Tyson Alualu, DT

Tyson Alualu did not live up to the hype when it came to his pro career. Geno Atkins has been one of the most talented defensive tackles in the league since he came in in 2010. Eight pro bowls out of a possible nine.

11. San Francisco 49ers: Brian Bulaga, T  (Picked No. 23 Overall)

Original Pick: Anthony Davis, T

Brian Bulaga is one of the most consistent pass blockers in the league. The 49ers made this selection based on the need for pass protection. Brian Bulaga gets the election here as he is the most worthy pass protector outside of Trent Williams. Starting 111 games in his whole career.

12. San Diego Chargers: C.J Spiller, RB (Picked No. 9 Overall)

Original Pick: Ryan Mathews, RB

C.J Spiller was shockingly the top running back in this draft class. A decade later Ryan Matthews does not stack up in comparison. Averaging 4.8 YPC. Spiller adds a swiss army knife on the offensive side and the Chargers get their running back pick based on need.

13. Philadelphia Eagles: Jason Pierre – Paul, DE (Picked No. 15 Overall)

Original Pick: Brandon Graham, DE

Jason Pierre Paul is best known for his downfall and injuries. I believe if drafted in a different spot he would still be playing at the high level he was for the first couple of years. Philly gets their higher rated talent here in JPP.

14. Seattle Seahawks: Brandon Graham, DE (Picked No. 13 Overall)

Original Pick: Earl Thomas, FS

Brandon Graham has been excellent in Philadelphia. With JPP going only a pick earlier Seattle uses their second selection in the first round, on the top remaining pass rusher. His 51 sacks and 18 forced fumbles will help the Seattle pass rush. After helping their offense with the sixth pick. Here they bolster their defensive line.

Original Pick: Earl Thomas, FS

15. New York Giants: Dez Bryant, WR (Picked No. 24 Overall)

Original Pick: Jason Pierre-Paul, DE

The Giants are coming off a mediocre season here and had a lack of weaponry. Dez left the Cowboys as the all time leader in all receiving stats. Nothing would add more excitement to the new season then adding the most productive wide out in the class in Dez Bryant.

16. Tennessee Titans: Devin McCourty, DB (Picked No. 27 Overall)

 Original Pick: Derrick Morgan, DE

Devin McCourty has proved to be a leader, a ball hawk and one of the best cover safeties we’ve seen in years. 772 career tackles to go along with 26 interceptions. Tennessee bolsters their secondary and makes a better pick this time around as Derrick Morgan never lived up to this selection.

17. San Francisco 49ers: Mike Iupati, G  (Same Selection)

Original Pick: Mike Iupati, G

Safe pick here. Iupati was an anchor on the offensive line for San Fransisco. His years there were his most productive. This is a pick you don’t want to change as he lived up to this pick for the team.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers: Maurkice Pouncey, C   (Same Selection)

Original Pick:  Maurkice Pouncey, C

Maurkice Pouncey was selected to the All-Decade team. He is an anchor on the offensive line and remains on the Pittsburgh Roster to this day. This pick remains the same due to the consistency throughout Pouncey’s careers.

19. Atlanta Falcons: Carlos Dunlap, DE  (Picked No. 54 Overall)

 Original Pick: Sean Weatherspoon, OLB

Dunlap is the Bengals all time leader in sacks. The Falcons get a long term pass rush option here. Weatherspoon was a great leader on this defense but Dunlap helps on the other side of John Abraham here for the Falcons.

20. Houston Texans: Jimmy Graham, TE (Picked No. 95 Overall)

 Original Pick: Kareem Jackson, CB

Graham has not been the same since being traded from New Orleans as he is now on his fourth team. Here he goes to the Texans who have never addressed their lack of tight end talents. Graham will help the Texans eventual QB carousel have a consistent target.

21. Cincinnati Bengals: Everson Griffen, DE (Picked No. 100 Overall)

Original Pick: Jermaine Gresham, TE

Gresham was not worthy of a first round selection. Griffen has been a leader in Minnesota and takes the place that Carlos Dunlap did fill here. Griffen gives the Bengals a pass rusher they would not doubt and staple of their defense. Without Atkins or Dunlap, the Bengals get their pass rusher.

22. Denver Broncos: Demaryius Thomas, WR (Same Selection)

Original Pick: Demaryius Thomas, WR

Demaryius Thomas has had a tough past couple of seasons but there is no doubt that they would make this selection once again. Like Dez Bryant, Thomas owns many records for the franchise that drafted him. His ability to stretch the field with his speed and his string of record breaking seasons continue with Denver’s pick here.

23. Green Bay Packers: Reshad Jones, S (Picked No. 163 Overall)

Original Pick:  Bryan Bulaga, T

Without Bryan Bulaga here to select. The Packers go with the best player available. Jones has been a captain in Miami and seems to show production no matter how the team is doing. While he never got the credit he deserved for what he did in Miami. He is a leader that will bring this defense to the next level.

24. Dallas Cowboys: Sean Lee, LB (Picked No.55 Overall)

Original Pick: Dez Bryant, WR

Dez Bryant was selected earlier. Meaning Cowboys must go after the linebacker that has been a centerpiece of their defense. Without a doubt one of the best tacklers in the class. He brings his career total of 784 tackles to the team he gets them with. Many believe he was worthy of a first round selection and I’m one of them.

25. Denver Broncos: Sam Bradford, QB   (Picked No. 1 Overall)

Original Pick: Tim Tebow, QB

Sam Bradford was originally number one selection. The Broncos snag the Heisman winner and get their quarterback. As we all know once Peyton Manning comes to town things will change for the Broncos QB room. Sam gives them the best chance to win over Tim Tebow.

26. Arizona Cardinals: Emmanuel Sanders, WR (Picked No. 82 Overall)

Original Pick: Dan Williams, DT

Sanders has been a productive weapon on almost all of the offenses he’s been on. Arizona gets a baller on the other side of Larry Fitzgerald. This will help whoever is throwing passes as the next decade brings much turnover to the quarterback position.

27. New England Patriots: Jerry Hughes, DE  (Picked No. 31 Overall)

Original Pick:  Devin McCourty, CB

Jerry Hughes is a perfect Bellichick edge rusher. In Buffalo Hughes has been consistent despite so much turnover on the defense around him. In New England he has the opportunity to do the same against Buffalo twice a year.

28. Miami Dolphins: Linval Joseph, DT (Picked No. 46 Overall)

 Original Pick: Jared Odrick, DE

Odrick is a forgotten pick in this draft for a good reason. Linval Joseph has been productive Nose tackle in both New York and Minnesota. Its time for the Big Goon to enjoy his time in Miami going after Tom Brady twice a year.

29. New York Jets: T.J Ward, S (Picked No. 38 Overall)

Original Pick: Kyle Wilson, CB

T.J Ward is a hard hitting safety best known for his work in the No Fly Zone secondary for the 2015 Champion Broncos. Jets needed help in the safety position, now its time for him to join the secondary with Darrelle Revis.

30. Detroit Lions: Ryan Matthews, RB(Picked No. 12 Overall)

Original Pick: Jahvid Best, RB

Ryan Matthews is the second running back off the board shows the lack of depth this draft has. Jahvid Best did not pan out and Ryan Matthews was in a system that didn’t fit him. He will add some versatility to the Lions offense.

31. Indianapolis Colts: Morgan Burnett, FS (Picked No.71 Overall)

 Original Pick: Jerry Hughes, DE

Morgan Burnett is the top safety left in this draft. Burnett isn’t the largest name in this class but he truly shows that he is a reliable and durable safety that checks all the boxes. He plays at a high level and has never demanded high salary. This would be an excellent pick for Buffalo.

32. New Orleans Saints: Golden Tate, WR (Picked No. 60 Overall)

Original Pick: Patrick Robinson, CB

Golden Tate has been on four teams in his ten year career and has shown that he can be a weapon on any offense and more important, any quarterback. A deep threat that came into the league with a lot of special teams potential. This is a dream pick for Coach Sean Payton who’s found success out of guys with raw talent.
