1. Kansas City Chiefs: DeAndre Hopkins, WR (Picked No. 27)
Original Pick: Eric Fisher, T
Hopkins is a four time pro-bowler, a three time first time all-pro and arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL. He has shown he catch the ball with anyone, literally. In 2015 he caught the ball from Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallat, TJ Yates, Brandon Weeden, and still accumulated 1,521 yards and 11 touchdowns. Despite the offensive line issues Kansas City had they go with the receiver who catches anything from anyone.
2. Jacksonville Jaguars: Lane Johnson, T (Picked No. 4)
Original Pick: Luke Joekel, T
The Jaguars were all in on Blaine Gabbert as their quarterback of the future, Joekel never worked. They go Lane Johnson, a three time pro-bowler and one time first team all-pro. He protected Nick Foles throughout the playoffs and eventual Superbowl victory in 2017. He is a pillar on the offensive line and one of the best blockers around, the Jaguars would have loved to build around him.
3. Miami Dolphins: Darius Slay, CB (Picked No. 36)
Original Pick: Dion Jordan, DE
Darius Slay is a shutdown cornerback and top three in the NFL. He’s earned three pro-bowl nods and one first team all-pro and has shown week in and week out that he can guard anyone. The Dolphins needed help on the defensive side of the ball and Slay is the perfect lockdown corner that would have fit for them.
4. Philadelphia Eagles: David Bakhitari, T (Picked No. 109)
Original Pick: Lane Johnson, T
Eagles needed an offensive linemen, with Lane Johnson taken number two they go for the next best tackle in the draft. Bakhitari is a two time pro-bowler, one time first team all-pro and has protected Aaron Rodgers blindside since he entered the league starting an incredible 102 of 116 games and nine playoff games on top of that. He right on par with Johnson.
5. Detroit Lions: Tyrann Matieu, FS (Picked No. 69)
Original Pick: Ezekiel Ansah, DE
He was disrespected in this draft coming out of college. He’s since been a one time pro-bowler, two time first team all-pro player, Superbowl champion and made the all-decades team. He is truly elite and improves any defense he falls not farther here regardless of any off the field issues.
6. Cleveland Browns: Keenan Allen, WR (Picked No. 76)
Original Pick: Barkivious Mingo, OLB
The Browns had a lot of needs on defense, but with offensive coordinator Norv Turner and his vertical offense, Keenan Allen’s ability to stretch the field would have been a perfect fit. Allen has eclipsed 1,000 yards in four of his seven seasons and earn three pro-bowl nods along with it. He would have helped the huge quarterback turnover in Cleveland.
7. Arizona Cardinals: Travis Fredrick, C (Picked No. 31)
Original Pick: Jonathen Cooper, G
Despite and auto-immune disease dignosis in 2018 that forced him to miss a full season Travis Fredrick started every 96 games of his career including 2019. Reaching five pro-bowls and making one first team all-pro Fredrick is one of best in the business and would have been the center piece of the Cardinals offensive line. He has since retired this offseason, and we wish him the best of luck with life after football.
8. St. Louis Rams (Now LA Rams): Zach Ertz, TE (Picked No. 35)
Original Pick: Tavon Austin, WR
The Rams desperately needed help on the offensive line and didn’t have any reliable option for any quarterback. Zach Ertz is a phenomenal blocker and can be used in a lot of sets requiring him to line next to the tackle. In 2018 he set the single season reception record by a tight end at 116. He’s averaged 5 touchdowns a season since he entered the league and earned three pro-bowls as well. The Rams would have filled two gaps on their team with this selection.
9. New York Jets: Travis Kelce, TE (Picked No. 63)
Original Pick: Dee Milner, CB
The Jets needed a tight end and Travis Kelce is the best in the league gaining over 1,000 recieving yards in four of his seven seasons. He’s proven to be a tight end that can do anything whether it’s the deep route, run the ball, or catch the screen pass. Five pro-bowls, two first team all-pros, a Superbowl championship and an all-decade team nod, Travis Kelce can catch anything and opens up the offensive playbook.
10. Tennessee Titans: Eric Reid, S (Picked No. 18)
Original Pick: Chance Warmack, G
Titans needed help in the secondary and Reid has been consistent since he entered the league lining up in the safety position, cornerback and linebacker position. A swiss army knife in the secondary and a hard hitting safety with a nose for the football, Reid would have been a great edition to the Titans defense.
11. San Diego Chargers (Now LA Chargers): Le’Veon Bell, RB (Picked No. 48)
Yes, Ryan Mathews was drafted the year before but this is hindsight people! The Chargers still had a gap from Ladianian Tomlinson departing in free agency in 2010 and Mathews wasn’t their guy. Despite the season that Bell sat out, he is a three time pro-bowler and two time first team all-pro player, showing he can be a wide receiver two on teams (look back to 2014 where Bell and Antonio Brown were the teams leading receivers).
12. Oakland Raiders (Now LV Raiders): Xavier Rhodes, CB (Picked No. 25)
Original Pick:DJ Hayden, CB
The Raiders needed a corner back and despite two years of decent play Xavier Rhodes, AKA “Rhodes Closed” has been a three time pro-bowler and one time first team all-pro caliber player. He can shut down any receiver and the Raiders needed the help, he would have fit much better than Hayden.
13. New York Jets: Kawann Short, DT (Picked No. 44)
Original Pick: Sheldon Richardson, DT
The Jets had some defensive line weaknesses, and Richardson didn’t mesh with them the way they hoped. Kawann Short is a two time pro-bowler and has averaged 4.5 sacks from the defensive tackle position per season since he entered the league. He has helped stop the run in Carolina since being drafted and would have been a perfect fit for Gang Green run stopping defense.
14. Carolina Panthers: Star Lotulelei, DT (Same Selection)
Original Pick: Star Lotulelei, DT
Star Lotulelei has been a pure run stopper and disruptor since he entered the league. While his stats don’t “wow” someone, only 13.5 sacks in seven seasons, his ability to get into the backfield and blow up the run has been a great fit in Carolina and now Buffalo. I think they were happy with this pick and what they got out of him.
15. New Orleans Saints: Kenny Vaccaro, SS (Same Selection)
Original Pick: Kenny Vaccaro, SS
Vaccaro is a solid consistent safety averaging 53 solo tackles and 75 total tackles per season since entering the league. He held down the Saints back end for five seasons and they got good production from him. He’s yet to reach his max potential in the NFL but is a serviceable safety who has maintained that level of play to the Titans currently.
16. Buffalo Bills: Robert Woods, WR (Picked No. 41)
Original Pick: EJ Manuel, QB
Woods was drafted by the Bills in the second round of this draft and he played pretty well while he was with the team. It felt like he was building momentum for a breakthrough season and it finally happened in 2018 when he had 1,219 reciving yards and six touchdowns, two years after leaving the Bills. They regret letting him go today and would have easily drafted him over Manuel with what we now know.
17. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jamie Collins, OLB (Picked No. 52)
Original Pick: Jarvis Jones, OLB
Jamie Collins has been incredibly efficient since entering the league averaging 82 combined tackles per season and 54 solo. A key part of the New England defense that beat the Seahawks in 2014, he’s has shown an ability to drop back into coverage, notching 3 interceptions in 2019 with one returned for a touchdown. He would slide in well into the Steel Curtain.
18. San Francisco 49ers: Micah Hyde, CB (Picked No. 159)
Original Pick: Eric Reid, FS
Reid is taken earlier in this draft, but the 49ers still get their guy in the secondary. One pro-bowl to his name, Hyde has show an ability to play all over the secondary whether deep at safety or right up front in man coverage. San Francisco would have benefitted greatly from his athleticism with a weak secondary in 2013.
19. New York Giants: Desmond Trufant, CB (Picked No. 22)
Original Pick: Justin Pugh, T
The Giants haven’t had a solid cornerback in years and Pugh never worked for the team. Trufant has been a true cornerback one, holding down the backend in Atlanta since entering the league and was missed in the Superbowl run for them. The Giants would benefit from having a cornerback securing the secondary in the one time pro-bowler.
20. Chicago Bears: Eric Fisher, T (Picked No. 1)
Original Pick: Kyle Long, T,
Kyle Long has two more pro-bowls (3) than Eric Fisher (1) but Long is already out of the league and played in only 77 of 112 possible career games due to injury. Fisher has played in 102 of a 112 possible games. The Bears would love to have consistency in their left tackle position still in the league to this day, Fisher would provide exactly that.
21. Cincinnati Bengals: Vance Mcdonald, TE (Picked No. 55)
Original Pick: Tyler Eifert, TE
Tyler Eifert had a great year in 2015 but has since struggled to stay healthy. The Bengals needed a tight end at the time and Vance Mcdonald has been more healthy than Eifert and proven to not only be a great blocker but a solid receiving option. He would help Dalton and Green by being another option and provide extra protection on the line.
22. Atlanta Falcons: Logan Ryan, CB (Picked No. 83)
Original Pick: Desmond Trufant, CB
Atlanta needed help in the secondary and with Trufant taken earlier they get the incredibly versatile Logan Ryan. A really solid tackler, Ryan was a huge factor in the Patriots comeback win against the Falcons in 2016. Ryan has shown he can line up against the best and hold his own.
23. Minnesota Vikings: Sheldon Richardson, DT (Picked No. 13)
Original Pick: Sharrif Floyd, DT
Sharrif Floyd would have been great for the Vikings were it not for a knee injury that derailed his career. They still get an athletic defensive tackle the one time pro-bowler Sheldon Richardson. Vikings were getting old in their front four and Richardson would learn a lot under defensive tackle Kevin Williams as well as provide some youth.
24. Indianapolis Colts: Vince Williams, ILB (Picked No. 206)
Original Pick: Bjoern Werner, OLB
Werner was out of the league after three years and the Colts needed a linebacker they go Vince Williams. Williams won’t be a household name unless you’re a Steelers fan but has proven to be a productive player and solid run stopper throughout his career. In his seven year career he’s averaged 58 total tackles and 40 solo tackles per season, he would be good addition to the Colts front seven.
25. Minnesota Vikings: Robert Alford, CB (Picked No. 60)
Original Pick: Xavier Rhodes, CB
A lot of needs on defense for the Vikings and they go Robert Alford here with Rhodes picked earlier. Alford has been consistent in the secondary since he came into the league and although he missed the 2019 season due to injury he was a practically never missed a game before the injury starting in 62 of 64 games in the four seasons before.
26. Green Bay Packers: Ezekiel Ansah, DE (Picked No. 5)
Original Pick: Datone Jones, DE
Packers really needed defensive line help and Jones only started seven games in four seasons for the them. Although Ezekiel Ansah has been injured in recent years the one time pro-bowler is a beast when healthy. He would offer the Packers much needed help and would love someone who started 57 games through four seasons compared to seven.
27. Houston Texans: DJ Swearinger, SS (Picked No. 57)
Original Pick: DeAndre Hopkins, WR
Texans get their original second round pick in the first in DJ Swearinger. Another secondary guy able to play all over he had two of his best years in Houston getting over 70 total tackles in both seasons. He’s gotten over 70 total tackles in three of his seven seasons, it’s hard to believe that he’s played for six teams after proving himself to be a viable starter for everyone.
28. Denver Broncos: Latavius Murray, RB (Picked No. 181)
Original Pick: Slyvester Williams, DT
A one time pro-bowler Latavius Murray has proven to be a reliable running back for three teams as either the full time starter or a fill in for injury. The Broncos got Payton Manning in free agency the year before and providing him with powerful one-cut back in Murray would have given the 2013 record breaking Broncos offense a power back to rely on.
29. Minnesota Vikings: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR (Same Selection)
Original Pick: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR
No change here, while Cordarrelle Patterson isn’t a traditional wide receiver he has been a deadly return man, making the NFL all-decades team as such. He’s a three time pro-bowler and three time first team all-pro at returner earning two of those with the Vikings. They got the best of this draft pick and don’t regret getting him again.
30. St. Louis Rams (Now LA Rams): Alec Ogeltree, OLB (Same Selection)
Original Pick: Alec Ogeltree, OLB
Also no change here. Alec Ogeltree has been a solid linebacker since entering the league getting over 100 total tackles in three of his seven seasons. He had a lot of that production while playing for the Rams prior to trading him to the Giants. They’re not upset with what they got out of him.
31. Dallas Cowboys: Kyle Long, T (Picked No. 20)
Original Pick: Travis Fredrick, C
Dallas needed help on the offensive line and Long is a three time pro-bowler with a lot of talent. He can play on the inside or the right tackle spot with Tyron Smith being drafted in 2011 to solidify the left side. You take the injuries away and Kyle Long was one of the top in his positions. A new scenery and maybe injuries would have been as prevalent.
32. Baltimore Ravens: Kenny Stills, WR (Picked No. 144)
Original Pick: Matt Elum, S
Ed Reed, Ray Lewis and Anquan Boldin were all off the team following the Superbowl win. In 2015 receivers Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones would be gone. Ravens select Kenny Stills here to fill the gap of Boldin and provide Joe Flacco with a receiving option following the offensive departures in the following year. Stills has averaged 15.7 yards per reception in his career and has proven to be a reliable medium and deep threat which would work well with the cannon of Flacco
