The New York Football Giants have not had a winning season since 201,6 when Ben Macado was their Head Coach, and as a New Yorker, it has been tough not to see the city have a winning football team. But with a new regime for the third time in 6 years, it’s finally time. The Giants have competence in their general manager and head coaching position in what feels like the first time since Coughlin left the organization, which was evident during their draft. Both Joe Shoen and Brian Daboll seem committed to bringing one of the more historic teams back to its former glory as quickly as possible, and that should have Giants fans excited.

Since 2015 the Giants have struggled in the first round. Guys like Ereck Flowers, Deandre Baker, Evan Engram, Eli Apple, and even Daniel Jones drive fans nuts. As a result, they have struggled to find success in the draft. But now, in 2021, we see something completely different. The Giants nailed it early on with the 5th and 7th overall picks. Kayvon Thibodeaux and Evan Neal were two prospects at the top of their positions entering the draft. Kayvon can be a top-tier edge rusher in the league and something the Giants haven’t had since the Michael Strahan era. Neal is an athletic tackle whose size, speed, and strength make him one of the most intriguing tackle prospects to come out for some time. Both Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley are thrilled Neal will be around blocking for them and providing the protection they need to find success offensively. The Giants also made two critical signings along the offensive line, Jon Feliciano and Mark Glowinski. They might not be household names, but they are consistent players who rarely get injured a bolster a subpar offensive line in New York.

The Giants, the NFC East division, is a strong but somehow weak division. All four teams have the easiest schedules in the NFL, making this a fun division to watch, especially the divisional matchups. While I don’t think the Giants are ready for the playoffs this year, let’s not forget that in 2020 Washington notched a first-place finish in the East with a 7-9 record. I do believe the Giants can win seven games this and show not only to their fans but to the rest of the NFL that they are finally on the come up.
